To answer this question, EAT gathered 37 of the planet’s foremost experts who, for the first time ever, propose scientific targets for what constitutes a healthy diet from a sustainable food system. This groundbreaking report was launched in Oslo, Norway on January 17, 2019. Since then this report has been released in over 25 countries.

The release of the EAT Lancet Commission Report will be at FSSAI Headquarters in New Delhi on 4thApril 2019 from 10 am to 1:30 pm.

This event is being organized by FSSAI with the support of Tasting India and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). All important stakeholders in the food ecosystem from Government officials to schools, colleges, Development Partners, Professional Associations, Nutritionists, Industry Partners, Start-ups, Representatives from Embassies will be attending the event.

Highlights

Dr. Brent Loken from the EAT forum will set the context and introduce the key findings of the report.

Two Commissioners of the EAT Lancet Report, Dr. K. Srinath Reddy, President PHFI and Dr. Sunita Narain, CSE and Commissioner will share their perspectives on the report.

World Food Prize Winner, Dr. Lawrence Haddad, ED, GAIN will deliver the keynote address.

Dr. Nafees Meah, Regional Representative, South Asia, IRRI and Ambassador Banashri Bose Harrison, ED, Tasting India Symposium will also deliver special addresses.

After the formal release of the report, young scholars from various institutions will present their perspective on the report, throwing light on the relevance of the report to India.

This will be followed by a presentation by FSSAI on Government action on the 5 strategies of the ‘Great Food Transformation’ and close with special remarks by Chairperson, FSSAI.

The release event in India aims to spark conversations on the key issues of the report among all stakeholders and deliberate on the five global strategies recommended in the report to bring about the ‘Great Food Transformation’.
