In each episode of the Food Trails podcast, hear about the pilot actions implemented by 11 cities and their Living Labs.

The Food Trails project is proud to present “Food & The Cities: From Policy to Plate,” a podcast series that delves into how cities are driving the sustainable transformation of Europe’s food system. Brought to you by Comune di Milano and Slow Food Europe, the series examines the pivotal role of urban centres in shaping our food future.

Across nine episodes, Natasha Foote, EU agri-food journalist and podcaster, hosts insightful conversations with experts from the project’s consortium and Think Tank. Each episode spotlights pilot actions implemented by the 11 partner cities through their Food 2030-led Living Labs, showcasing innovative solutions to today’s public challenges.

Topics range from “urban food revolution” (episode 2), to the relationship between  food research and urban food policies (episode 3) and the participatory co-creation approaches of like Living Labs (episode 4). Later episodes cover urban food policy development (episode 5), impact monitoring of food actions (episode 6), and peer learning (episode 7). Episode 8 features Joe Robertson, EAT’s Senior Advisor for Sustainable Finance, discussing impact investing in urban food systems.

The series kicks off with Rosalinda Scalia, Deputy Head of Unit at the EU Commission,  and Anna Scavuzzo, Milan’s Deputy Mayor in charge of the food policy. They set the scene, explaining how cities can support the EU in driving a sustainable food system transition, and what a project like Food Trails can achieve. The final episode offers  policy recommendations, drawing from four years of food trails experiences (episode 9).

Starting 10 September 2024, two episodes will be released weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays on Spotify, and other major platforms. For more details, visit the Food Trails and Slow Food websites.
