EAT is pleased to welcome Aker QRILL Company as a partner for the Stockholm Food Forum, taking place on October 3-4, 2025.
Aker QRILL Company, a leader in sustainably sourced marine nutrients, brings valuable expertise to EAT’s mission to transform global food systems. The partnership will spotlight the role of “blue foods”—fish, shellfish, algae, and other aquatic foods—in building healthy diets and reducing environmental harm.
Research from the Blue Food Assessment, co-led by EAT and academic partners and published in 2021, shows that blue foods deliver high-quality nutrition with a lower environmental footprint than many land-based alternatives. They also support livelihoods and food security for millions worldwide.
Through this partnership, EAT and Aker Qrill will co-host a dedicated session at the Stockholm Food Forum on scaling marine-based foods sustainably and will showcase existing insights and innovations in the blue food space. The aim is to raise awareness among policymakers, industry leaders, and the public of the potential of blue foods to advance health, climate, and ocean stewardship.
“Blue foods are among the most nutrient-dense and planet-friendly sources still overlooked in food system reform,” said Dr Gunhild Stordalen, Co-founder and Executive Chair of EAT. “By partnering with Aker QRILL Company, we aim to show how marine innovations can help deliver healthy, sustainable diets within planetary boundaries.”
Matts Johansen, Chairman of the board at Aker QRILL Company, adds:
“We’re pleased to support EAT in advancing the important conversation around blue foods and sustainable nutrition. At Aker QRILL Company, we have always believed that the ocean’s resources, when harvested responsibly, are essential for feeding the world’s future. This collaboration enables us to share our scientific expertise and show how blue foods are part of the solution to global food security while safeguarding marine ecosystems for future generations.”
Ahead of the Forum, EAT and Aker Qrill will engage decision-makers from business, government, and civil society to identify practical steps for integrating blue foods into supply chains and public awareness campaigns.
