The EAT-Lancet Commission Launch in Rome

When: February 15 at 13:30 – 14:15
Where: Sheikh Zayed Centre, FAO
Hosted in collaboration with: IFAD

Can we feed a future population of 10 billion people a healthy diet within planetary boundaries?

To answer this question, EAT gathered 37 of the planet’s foremost experts who, for the first time ever, propose scientific targets for what constitutes both a healthy diet and a sustainable food system.

The launch is taking place as part of IFAD’s Governing Council and will be accessible for all delegates.

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an international financial institution and a specialized agency of the United Nations dedicated to eradicating poverty and hunger in rural areas of developing countries.

Program

Mr. Gilbert Houngbo (President, IFAD) and Dr. Gunhild A. Stordalen (Founder & Executive Chair, EAT) will provide opening remarks.

EAT-Lancet Commissioner, Dr. Jessica Fanzo, will present the findings of the report.

Following the presentation, a member state will share their first reactions to the report before closing remarks will be provided by Ms. Maria Helena Semedo (Deputy Director-General, Climate & Natural Resources, FAO).

Dr. David Nabarro, Curator, Food Systems Dialogues and Winner of the World Food Prize, 2018 is MC for the launch and will guide delegates through the programme.

The launch will be followed by an EAT-Lancet aligned lunch, curated by Chef Conor Spacey (Ireland) and Chef Mokgadi Itsweng (South Africa) representing the Chefs Network for Global Goals.
