The EAT-Lancet Commission was co-chaired by Prof. Johan Rockström (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research), Prof. Walter Willett (Harvard University) and Dr Shakuntala Thilsted (CGIAR). Together with 24 commissioners invited for their expertise across nutrition, agriculture, health, environmental science and policy, they worked to develop the Commission’s analyses and recommendations.
The Commission operated with full academic and editorial independence. All members contributed their knowledge without influence on the content or conclusions from funders or external stakeholders. Commissioners gave their time in kind and received no payment from EAT or the Commission’s donors.
Funding came exclusively from philanthropic foundations listed in the Acknowledgements. No private sector funds were used. To ensure transparency, all commissioners’ declared potential conflicts of interest are published in the Commission’s disclosures.
The work underwent multiple rounds of independent peer review overseen by The Lancet, involving more than ten external reviewers.
