With a solid journalistic background, Vanessa Hauc is an EmmyAward-winner that started her career in Bogota, Colombia, in 1993 and in 1999 she moved to Las Vegas, where she studied Communications and Journalism at the University of Nevada and worked as presenter and news reporter for Univision’s KINC Channel 15 in that city. She was also presenter and co-producer of “En Contacto” (KCLV Canal 2) a public affairs program produced by the City of Las Vegas in English for the Hispanic community.
In addition to Journalism, Vanessa Hauc also studied French Culture and Languages at the University of Aix in Provence, France, and received a Master’s Degree in Economy and International Politics from the University of Miami.
In 2002 Vanessa joined the Telemundo network to become part of “Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste” as reporter and co-presenter of this popular program. Her passion for ecology inspired her to create the “Alerta Verde” segment with the goal of informing and educating the community about the importance of protecting the environment. This segment was widely recognized and, due to its popularity, the Telemundo network adopted the concept as a company, putting itself at the forefront in the effort to disseminate information about the environment.
Throughout her career, Hauc has been in charge of covering important news. From social, cultural and political events to natural disasters, Vanessa has been a correspondent and a main source of information, reporting right from where it happens. Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, the earthquakes in Chile, Japan and Haiti, as well as the Chilean miners’ rescue, are just some of the stories Vanessa has covered. She has also travelled throughout the United States reporting on the anti-immigration laws that have come up around the nation and challenging the legislators that implement them.
Currently Vanessa is an correspondent for Noticiero Telemundo. As co-founder of Sachamama, she handles public relations and make sure that their messages are consistent, timely and relevant on the development, educational and organizational platforms.
