Professor Corinna Hawkes

Professor Corinna Hawkes is Director, Centre for Food Policy, City University London and Co-Chair of the Independent Expert Group of the Global Nutrition Report. She is a leading expert on policies throughout the food system to promote healthier eating and better nutrition.
Hawkes sits on a number of expert panels and advisory committees, including the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems, the Lancet Obesity Commission and the new EAT-Lancet Commission on Healthy Diets from Sustainable Food Systems.
Hawkes has worked in NGOs, research and at UN agencies, including World Cancer Research Fund International, the International Food Policy Research Institute, the School of Public Health at the University of Sao Paulo, and the World Health Organization. In 2013 she established the NOURISHING Food Policy Framework which brings together examples of policies to promote healthier eating from around the world, and in 2010 was Chair the WHO Expert Group on Food Marketing to Children. She received her PhD from Kings College London in 1998.
